The Congress in Kerala launched its campaign for the April 16 Lok Sabha polls in the state and the party got none other than Rahul Gandhi to flag off its election campaign.
Acknowledging the fan following among his party workers, Rahul was seen at his first political rally in Kerala.
It was the same venue - the Shanghumughom beach in Thiruvananthapuram where Rajiv Gandhi addressed a rally two decades ago. But rather than be nostalgic, Rahul decided to be hard hitting - aggressively attacking the Left Democratic Front government.
"You are aware of the corruption in the government at the highest level. You are also aware of the infighting taking place in the government," he said.
He came, he spoke and he managed to galvanise his workers. But the big question is will the Congress be able to sustain this enthusiasm till the Lok Sabha polls.

He also countered the left government's accusation that the UPA was neglecting Kerala, saying that the UPA government had sanctioned projects and packages worth Rs 40,000 crore. He also tried to strike a chord with young voters. "Whenever this country moves forward, it is the youth that will help the process", said Rahul Gandhi. |
